School Meals and Snacks

Your child will have three options in respect of lunchtime arrangements:- 

1) School Meal   2) Packed Lunch    3) To go home

School Meal

If your child wishes to stay for school dinners, these are currently £9.00 per week (£1.80 per day). Dinner money is collected on Monday for that week. We ask that you send the Dinner Money into school in a sealed envelope with your child's name, class and the amount enclosed on the front and ask your child to hand it to the class teacher.  Payment may be made in cash or by cheque.  Cheques must be made payable to 'WMBC – St. John's School '.

If you think you may be entitled to Free School Meals, you need to contact your local District Office to make your claim and they will then inform us of your entitlement. If your claim is successful you will be given an interim letter which should be handed into the school office.

Sandwiches

If your child wishes to bring a packed lunch, this should be in a suitable container (not a carrier bag) marked with your child's name.  We would also recommend that a cool pack is placed inside the lunch box, as it is often very warm in school, and this helps to keep the food fresh. We encourage healthy eating in school and ask you to bear this in mind when preparing your child's lunch box.

Home  

If you would like your child to go home for lunch, infants must be collected at 12.10 pm from their classroom and juniors at 12:25pm. All children must be in the playground at 1.10 pm.

PLAYTIME SNACKS 

We have a healthy eating policy, and do not allow sweets, crisps or drinks at break times. If you wish your child to have a morning snack, please send a piece of fruit, raw carrot or cheese, for example. Alternatively, we do offer milk and toast and/or fruit during the morning break. If you wish your child to have milk and toast, please send in £1.25 on Friday mornings for the following week and/or 50 pence for fruit.
