St. John's Mosley Common C.E. Primary School

Summer Fayre; 27th June 2009

Saturday, June 27th 2009 saw the come back of the much loved Summer Fayre at St. John's School and what a fantastic success it was!

The village school worked together with the village church and the local community and put on a wonderful event that was enjoyed by young and old. The main aim was to bring us all together and not a fund raiser in the first place. However we managed to make £700 on the day!!!

The event commenced with songs from the community choir and children from the school and then there were so many fun family activities for the children and adults that it was difficult to know where to begin!

We had...

Wellie throwing, Netball competition, Obstacle course, Skipping competition, Knock down the tin cans, catch the moving rubber duck, pull the right string for a prize, tombola, ice lollies, cafe, face painting, burgers and hotdogs from the barbecue and a wonderful cafe for well needed refreshments!

Between 1pm - 1.30pm we were all thoroughly entertained by Merlin the Magician (and comedian!) and at 2.30pm the day was rounded off with more songs from the choir and the prize ceremony for the winners of all the competitions.

Living in a fast moving insular world this really was a moment in time when, just like the 'good old days' the community came together and had FUN together!

Thankyou to EVERYBODY who came and supported the day and also to all who helped make the event such a success - the teachers who gave up their Saturday, the helpers from St. John's Church, the Brownies, members of Friends of St. John's school,  the Mosley Common Community group who funded the magnificent new BIG barbecue that can be used for further community events  and a big thankyou to Andrea Tasiker who really pulled the whole thing together!

We can't wait for the next one!
